Default Lancaster ND871 lost Nortrup 23.05.1944

    Hello,
last week I have found the accurate crash site on a field between the small village Ankum- Nortrup in Germany.
I have found many small metal pieces with my detector and plexiglas of the Lancaster ND871.

    Pilot: F/LT John George Symons
I am looking for relatives. I would like to contact them. I miss the names of the remaining crew members. There was apparently only one survivor. Maybe there are pictures of the crew?. I thank you for any information.

    kind regards

    Lieber Volker,

Perhaps of interest -the closest night fighter claim that fits to the loss of ND871 is the following, no other documented Nachtjagd claims on this night seem to match:

    Oblt. Heinz Ferger: 13 3./NJG3 4-mot SE Quakenbrück: 5.400 m. 00.30 207 Sqn Lancaster ND871 or 630 Sqn Lancaster JB546
