    Hello

24th March 1942 is the day he was shot down in Northern France. He went on the run for a while. He was actually captured in Paris, about 2 months later, in May but he didn't precisely record the day.

    Joss

PS : I see that Hugh's entry in the honours and awards database quotes verbatim the evasion report of W.F. ASH, making my post redundant, but I can't delete it.

I believe this is William "Tex" Ash, an American I think, who post war lived in England and up to a few years ago, was still in the land of the living.

    He still maybe.

RCAF casualty list 282 issued 4 June 42:

Ash, William Franklin, P/O, previously reported missing, now reported prisoner of war. W.F. Ash (father), Dallas, Texas, is next of kin.
