    Hi Steve,
A few references to the crash:
    Glasgow Herald 8th Dec 1947 Page 5 Col 4:
Planes in Collision: "A pilot officer was killed and a Sgt Pilot baled out and landed safely after 2 Spitfires from Llandow were in collision over Somerset".
    More detail here:
    http://ciapoldiescorner.blogspot.co.uk/2008_12_01_archive.html
    and
    http://forum.planetalk.net/viewtopic.php?p=29804
Has a location for one aircraft as a "Field at Othery" and the surviving Pilot as a Sgt. Hobson
Glasgow herald usually is a good source for accidents and, surpisingly, usually has a lot of detail even for overseas accidents.
A local Somerset newspaper would be the best bet.

    Alan.

    Hello,

    The Times, Monday, December 8, 1947. p.6.

    SPITFIRE PILOT KILLED.

Pilot Officer Morgan was killed after two Spitfires from Llandow, Glamorgan, came into collision over Somerset yesterday. Sergeant Hodgson, pilot of the other aircraft, baled out and landed safely. Pilot Officer Morgan's Aircraft crashed in a field at Othery and the other fell near Long Sutton.

    Welcome back Steve

Try not use the quote function when replying, Ross has a sticky note asking us to not use it, its obvious what posting your reply to. Save space on the server. You can edit out the duplicated text for a few hours.
