    Default 460 Sqn Lancaster W4939 lost 21/22 June 1943

    Hi All,

    I am in contact with the relatives of the Australian pilot of the above aircraft. I looking for any relatives of the other members of the crew, they were;

P/O Hugh Jenkin TRAFFORD 144884 of Swansea.
Sgt Arthur Leslie Thomas HOSKING 865141 of Devenport.
    Sgt H Thomson.
Sgt John Edwin O'Neill CASSELL 1312636 of Southsea Hampshire.
Sgt John HETHERINGTON 1683293 of Liverpool.
Sgt Bernard Desmond O'NEILL 659011 of Millon Cumberland.

All were killed when they were shot down by a night fighter except H Thomson. Anyone who has a connection could they contact me as Teerman's relatives are keen to contact any relatives of the rest of the crew.

    Regards,

    John.

    Hi John

I am contacting you on behalf of my mother who is 91 years old and living in the North of England. She is the cousin and only surviving relative of Hugh Jenkin Trafford from Swansea. We didn't realise that there were any survivors of Lancaster W4939 or any relatives interested in making contact until today. I do realise that you added this post many years ago now.
She remembers Hugh being missing in action for many years and has only been aware of the location of his grave in recent years.

    Kind Regards

    Roxane Walley

    Hello

The survivor was Flight Sergeant Harry THOMSON, service number 1230178. Born 7 July 1923, joined 13 February 1941 ? (the interrogation mark is on the PoW questionnaire, not my addition).
His wartime address was 33 Roseneath Avenue, Levenshulme, Manchester 19, Lancashire.
He was in Dulag Luft, Frankfort 24 June to 3 July 1943, Stalag Luft 6 from 7 July 1943 to July 1944, then Stalag 357 first in Thorn, July August 1944, then Fallingbostell until 7th April 1945.

In case it can help to trace the family.

    Regards and good luck

    Joss

    Hi Joss,

Do you have a copy of the pow file for the survivor you could send me, as Iím writing a history of the Aussies on the course that Alfred Teerman was on.

    Cheers,

    John.
