Flt Sgt Prytherch, Spitfire, 9 March 1942

Can anyone please i/d the Spitfire coded XT-G of 603 Sqn, crash-landed by F/S Prytherch at Forres on 9 March 1942? Is this the same person as the F/S D Prytherch who was MIA 18 June 1943, whilst with 91 Sqn?

Nothing on 9 March 1942.

I've got F/O(P) PRYTHERCH, Dalton J. - 137799 - RAF - Malta Mem. - P6 - C2
He was with 72 sqn flying Spitfire IX, EN301 from Hal Far Malta. He reported engine trouble (12.35 hrs) and abandoned a/c over sea 10 miles S of Ragusa on 18 June 1943.

Hello Keith,

March 9, 1942 BL379 Vb 603 Sqn Forres 1310 hrs. Cat B. Army Co-op - Low flying attacks on troops and transport in wooded country. Hit trees when low flying, damaged engine cowling and cooling system. Force landed in field u/c retracted. F/Sgt D.J.Prytherch 968126.

Also note an earlier incident,

January 7, 1942 AD557 Vb 603 Sqn Dyce 1610 hrs. Cat M(c). Scramble. Heavy landing on one wheel u/c collapsed. Sgt D.J.Prytherch 968126.

Do you have a service No for the 91 sqdn loss to confirm i/d

Dalton John Prytherch is in the LG http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/35667/pages/3557 with No.91 Sqn in August 1942 receiving a DFM, interestingly the same NCO service number appears in February 1941 (http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/35076/pages/905) against a different name. And to add to the whole problem Prytherch's officer service number as given by the CWGC appears against a different officer in the LG, a George Foggon.

Hi Dalton PRytgerxh was my grandads cousin. I have photos and some history of him. I haven't got any to clear up your question but found some of it interesting. His family was originally from Liverpool but does still have a nice who still lives in new Zealand
