Default No.3 PGITW Course, Sutton Bridge

I am looking at the logbook of one H.J. Cleary (RCAF). Having been at No.1488 (Gunnery) Flight, on 15 May 1942 he commenced No.3 PGITW Course at Sutton Bridge. The course concluded on or about 8 June 1942. Flying is on Master and Spitfire aircraft, with numerous types of exercises - air to air firing, bomber cooperation, camera gun (and a "Home Guard beat up"). He then returns to No.1488 Flight and flying Masters and Lysanders.

My question is - what was a "PGITW course" and what was it intended to accomplish ?

Colonel, you are the very definition and embodiment of "instantaneous". My thanks.
