Default 20 & 25 SFTS, Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia, ORBs

Can anyone suggest where, at the NA, I might find the ORBs for 20 SFTS Belvedere and 25 SFTS Carborne for the period 1940-41? I've tried searching via the new search engine on the NA website (which I do not find as user-friendly as the previous search engine) but cannot find anything relevant.

Does anyone perhaps know their NA file references, assuming they have survived?

    Thanks

    Steve,
I do not know whether this is any help as I have not looked at the early RATG ORBs myself, but as there appears to have been no other replies, here goes.
I have this note made sometime ago...
AIR 25/1066 1939 June - 1941 Dec. Operations record book.
AIR 25/1067 1940 Apr.-1941 Dec. Operations record book.

Hope that might be of some help in your search, Freshman

Thanks very much for those references, Freshman

I'll check them out. No wonder I could find them; I was looking for 20 & 25 SFTS rather than the RATG!

I appreciate you taking the time to post

    Hi Steve

My post this week has brought the quarterly Air Britain magazines and I am reminded that Aeromilitaria has had a small series of articles on the RATG by Dave Newnham; the Summer issue includes Part 3. It could be that the author might be able to help with your enquiry perhaps it's worth an email to the editor "phil dot butler at air-britain dot co dot uk".

    Best wishes

    Steve

    Thanks Steve

I appreciate you posting this, and will e-mail Phil if I do not find what I need in the ORBs.

Are these two units within the free AIR54 records on the UK national archives website, refer to Ross' threads on them from the main page.

    Hi Dennis

I don't believe so. I can't see an obvious reference to 20 SFTS, and No. 25 Air School appears to commence after the period I'm looking for, which is Jan-Mar 1941. This for the heads-up, though.

If you can solve the mystery of where these ORBs are, I would like to know.

I employed an NA researcher and she could find nothing and so had to get info from the RAF Museum and the AHB(RAF) - I was looking for accidents BTW.
