Default JG 26 aircraft code number

    Hi all,

I am trying to identify the code number of the following Fw 190A-4, shot down by Pilot Officer Donald Robert Morrison (No. 401 Squadron RCAF) on September 2, 1942:

    Unit: 1./JG 26
    Werk Nummer: 5598
    Pilot: Feldwebel Waldemar Söffing
    Location: Samer (France)

    Thanks for your help,

    Fox.

    Hi Fox,

Waldemar Söffing was flying 'White 1 + ' on that day. Source is the book by Jochen Prien et al., Jagdfliegerverbände der Deutschen Luftwaffe Teil 7, page 357.

    Cheers,

There is a good account of their combat in JG26 War Diary Vol.1 by Donald Caldwell on page 285. Let me know if you'd like a copy.

Andrew, thank you so much for your swift and accurate response.

Pete, I had already come accross this account, which, unfortunately, does not mention this detail.

    Thank you all,

    Fox.
