Default Crash of Handley Page Hereford

Can any supply a date and crew details of the loss of a Handley Page Hereford which flew into the Coventry balloon barrage with fatal results some time early in 1940?

    Hi David,

    http://forum.keypublishing.com/archive/index.php?t-36657.html

P1336 of 106Sqn (ZN- ) flew into Coventry balloon barrage at night, killing all on board.
    P/O JMD Irvine
    Sgt JR Collingham
    AC1 SE Firth

The 'Handley Page Hampden & Hereford crash log' records P1336 as being lost on the night of the 25/5/40 stating 'collided with balloon cable at 23.08 hours over Coventry while on cross-country, killing three, Cat W'.

    Regards,

    Dave

    Hi Dave,
Just one ammendment to your reply. This aircraft crashed at 23.10, on the night of the 24th, according to the ORB, not the 25th, as stated in the crash log.

Many thanks. So this was a Hampden, not a Hereford?

    Hi Alan,

I put the link as where I found the reply. It was just a copy and paste job from Key Publishing.

I hesitate to correct it as anybody clicking the link will be met with incorrect information which you have now straightened out here.

    Regards,

    Dave
