    Default Sergeant David Smith DFM

    Gents,

A real long shot here. Looking for a photograph of the above pilot who completed a full operational tour with No.115 Squadron in 1941 and was awarded a DFM in the process. He reached the rank of flight lieutenant on completion of his 2nd tour in 1943/44. Briefly served with No.623 Squadron.

    Any help or pointers welcome.

    Regards

    Gents,

Following on from the above. I have learnt that David Smith was awarded a DFC in November 1944 while with No.90 Squadron. On leaving No.623 Squadron in November 1943 he was posted to No.26 OTU. Does anyone have the ORB for this unit and could look up details for me please.

    TIA

Do you happen to know any more about Sgt Smith? I came across an article in the Northern Daily Mail (now the Hartlepool Mail), describing a DFM award to a Sgt Pilot David Smith, aged 21, of 115 Squadron. The article is dated September 20th 1941, and includes a photo of him.
