Default Captain G. H. KAUFMANN, DFC (SAAF)

    Hi all,

I am looking for further information regarding the following pilot, KIA on July 18, 1944 (Normandy):

Captain Graham Harfold KAUFMANN, DFC (SAAF 242136V).
    See here: http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/2633432/KAUFMANN,%20GRAHAM%20HARFOLD

He was flying Typhoon MN762 (code unknown) of No. 182 Squadron (RAF) when shot down by Flak. Buried in Bonnebosq churchyard.

    Thanks in advance,

    Fox.

KAUFMAN, Graham Herford, Captain (242136, South African Air Force) - No.4 Squadron, South African Air Force - Distinguished Flying Cross - awarded as per London Gazette dated 9 July 1943; citation in Air Ministry Bulletin 10775. Public Record Office Air 2/8961 also has text, noting he had flown 193 operational hours.

"Over a period of 15 months Captain Kaufman has displayed continuous gallantry in the Western Desert and has to his credit at least three enemy aircraft destroyed. As a flight commander he has led the squadron most successfully. By his untiring efforts to fly at all times this officer’s gallant conduct has set an excellent example, while his courage and fine fighting spirit have been of the highest order."
