Bettye Olive Whittington - Pilot

According to the obituary on the This is Cornwall website (see below). Bettye Olive Whittington was a pilot during WWII, as was her husband Henry Michael Andrew Armstrong, who served with the ATA.

I cant find her on any ATA lists. Can anyone shed any light on her service?

Her Husband was First Officer HENRY MICHAEL ANDREW ARMSTRONG ATA

Who she Married Qtr 3 1943

She is down as Olive B Whittington or Olive B May in Register at Wokingham

Daughter Born Qtr 2 1944

Mary Anne Armstrong in Bath


There was another child: John William Andrew Armstrong


She was born Qtr 3 1916

As Olive B Whittington at Epsom (Mother Nee Farmer)


So I assume B was "Bettye"

She was not on Brief Glory list... Does not say she was not in ATA though


What is left out of her Obit is her marriage in Qtr 4 1937 to Rodney G May (which would explain double entry in 1943 register) when was Olive B Whittington

Hi Paul,

Another possible for your list. I is possible she met Armstrong whilst serving with the ATA.

I have some new info on another pilot for you which I will email later.
