Default wanted ORB for 149 squadron

I am researching my grandfather Sergeant George Williams who flew with 149 Squadron. So far I have only been able to find references to his last flight which ended in a fatal crash. I am interested in viewing the ORB for his squadron but only been able to find a source at the National Archives. It appears to have been broken down into 60 or more parts and at £3.60 to view/retrieve a part will be quite expensive to obtain all parts. Is there a cheaper way of getting this information or at least minimising my retrieval to only the parts that reference my grandfather ?

Any help with this or any other information regarding my grandfather Sergeant George William Williams (flight enginner) RAFVR - died 19th Dec 1942.

    Regards
    Kish

You can order a complete years worth or more for about UK£20, you need to look at the upper file reference and don't order the monthly ones. Or simply purchase month by month backwards from the crash, he might not have been with the unit for that long.

Surf through the threads on this sub forum for directions on the larger ORB ordering method.

    Alan,
The ORB makes no mention of this loss at all. The crew are not even mentioned in the 540 section, as being posted to 1 Depot Uxbridge as casualties. The aircraft was lost during a height/load test on 19th Dec 42, as explained by Col.

    Default R9265

Thanks Col and Alan, I have now found the accident, personnel on board and the circumstances of the loss. As you say, nothing in the ORBs!
