    Default Sgt W J Bartholomew, 14 Squadron

I am trying to find out more about the death of my uncle, William John Bartholomew, who died on 6th July 1942 and is buried in El Alamein war cemetery.
I have copies of the squadron records showing that he was in Blenheim IV Z7712 which failed to return from an operation on that day. The crew were:
    S/Ldr A N Pirie
    Sgt J E Beckett R66276
    Sgt W J Bartholomew 1375203
It would appear that the other two crew members survived as I have found a reference to Sgt J E Beckett RCAF at Stalag Luft 6 (L6/225709) and a reference to S/Ldr A N Pirie (39643) as an escaper or evader. S/Ldr Pirie's name also appears in the London Gazette after the war.
I would be interested to know more about what happened and about the other crew members, so if anyone can help me in this it would be much appreciated.

Your Canadian was R66276 Sgt John Edward Beckett of Niagara Falls, Ontario. DOB was 30 July 1921. Father's name was Walter.

Contemporary newspaper reports states he was an only child. I could find no obituary.

    Regards,

    Dave

All I can add is that they were 'shot down after bombing'.
