    Hi Mark,

Raymond Orville Hunter is shown in RCAF Casualty List 746, dated 6 December 1943 as Safe in UK. This ties in with Oliver Clutton-Brock's "RAF Evaders" which shows him "Back by Lysander in Operation Water Pistol 16 November 1943". Next of kin is father, H. L. Hunter. Home of record is shown as Hazemore, Saskatchewan. Typo as town's name is Hazenmore.

RCAF Casualty List 1040, dated 14 November 1944 shows F/O Raymond Orville Hunter of Hazenmore, Saskatchewan as Missing after Air Operations. No next of kin listed.

James is a little more difficult, I'm afraid. The trouble with the search engine on the Canadian War Museum site which hosts the casualty lists is that there is no way to just search for "James" as a surname. It looks up everywhere it appears. 179 listings for the timeframe in question. "RAF Evaders" shows him as Safe in the UK 24 July 1943. There is a file at WO208 file at Kew (3314 1317). His service number does indicate a commissioning from the ranks.

    Regards,

    Dave

TSGNO confirms both commissioned as per your service numbers. James from Calgary, wife Margaret R. James.
