    Default Lancaster Mk.I R5496 OF-U 4/5th September 1942 Bremen raid

    Can anyone provide any details as to where this aircarft came down in Germany.
    The crew;
    RAF Flt Sgt J S Cooper, Captain (Pilot)
    RAF Sgt R Oxley, (Flight Engineer)
    RAF Flt Sgt T R Whitehead, (Navigator)
    RAF Flt Sgt G H P Dean, (Air Bomber)
    RAF Sgt S M Girvin, (Wireless Air Gunner)
    RAAF 401587 Sgt R Brook, (Mid Upper Gunner)
    RAF Sgt W F Gray, (Rear Gunner)

    are all buried at Becklingen War Cemetery, Soltau, Niedersachsen Germany

    Hi Chris,

    The Aussie Brook service/crash files are open at the NAA and you can have his crash files (705A) files put on line for about $20.00 (Aus) this should give you some detail on the crash location. The two line summary says the the aircraft crashed at Bremen.

    Just to add that the CWGC Concentration Report shows that the original burials were at Bremen-Walle Cemetery, so that may help you narrow down your search area.
