I wont bother with any POWs then.
I will try to add AB losses on Monday (if I can find them)

Leggitt was killed whilst flying in Albemarle I, P1382 of No 296 Sqn, which ditched off Pantelleria following an engine failure whilst delivering mail.
Malcolm
Hello,
We're talking about - 658471 F/Sgt Herbert LIDGETT RAF, here, not LEGGITT.
Col.
Sorry my typo it should have read Lidgett - source Cummings TWA
Well done to you ALL.
I would not have beleived it to have been so easy to get you all back on track.
From the CWGC and Geoff's site's is all that I have to work by so at the moment I cannot link the losses to aircraft or other reason of loss, nore can I give further details about them but will scan and list them for your research. So that Henk's list will continue to grow.
I take the point of the date first as in Henk's threads.
Also I did see the two Far East POW's but left them out as they were recorded in the book noted.
The two Canadian losses I also left out as I also as with RAAF/RNZAF losses thought that they would be covered elsewere.
I will look at Ballon losses next time.
Thanks to you all
Alex

Hello
Sgt. Allison John SEDGWICK - 1011330 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at Albrighton, Shropshire. The Lincolsnhire Standard & Boston Guardian of October 16th 1943 reported the following:
ACCIDENTAL DEATH
Sergt. Alan Sedgwick's Terrible End
The resumed inquest on Sergt. Allison (Alan) John Sedgwick, R.A.F., 29, of Twr-y-Felm, Pilleys Lane, Fishtoft, Boston, whose tragic death was reported in the "Standard" a fortnight ago, was held at Shifnal, Salop, on Friday. A verdict of "Acciental death" was returned.
It will be recalled that Sergt. Sedgwick was involved in a collision with a motor tractor at Albrighton, in the Wolverhampton area, during the black out on the vening of Sept. 24th. He was thrown from his machine [a motor cycle] and killed instantly.
The Coroner (Mr. J. V. Lander) observed that the evidence showed that the accident took place at an extremely dangerous crossing, and considerable care should be exercised by anyone using it.
Regards
Simon
Greetings Dennis, I am researching 65871 F/Sgt Herbert Lidgett of 296 Sqn, who was lost while flying Albermarle 1 P1382 which ditched, whilst carrying mail, off Pantelleria Island (nr Sicily) in the Mediterranean in September 1943. Can we show any more light on F/Sgt Herbert Lidgett? And would anyone by chance, have a copy of 296 Sqn ORB that covers the period up to this event? Thanks in anticipation,
Jonathan
