    ALEX.
    Good start.

Important that the thread titles follow Henks format, start ALL these thread TITLES with the date in THIS format

    430924 yymmdd
That will allow them be sorted by date. Very important for indexing.

See the thread titles on the index
    http://www.skynet.ie/~dan/war/henksthreads.html

Scroll down to see format I refer to.

Freise Greene, Meggitt and Barker are all registered on page of the Cirenchester district register.

Their names appear under a killed on active service listing. KOAS

Might be related to 3 (P) AFU maybe.

Sedgewick is registered in Wenlock district. User Thorne83 should have details of him from his Shropshire research.
    http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/showthread.php?3670-Shropshire-s-casualties-and-aircraft-crashes/page2
He is actually a Died on Active Service listing so probably no connection to an aircraft crash. Ground accident or illness.
The wills calenders give his place of death as Albrighton, Shropshire. Normally war related deaths do not have place of death, it usually states 'on war service'.

Rose Reece died in Exeter district. Died on Active service, Cas. Com 321

Cannot see for now a candidate for J D H Williams in England & Wales. There is a Jessie D Williams age 20 in Cuckfield district, but this is only a guess.

Well done gents. I've amended the thread title as per the request from Dennis.

F1180 for Oxford LW752 confirms Friese Green as pilot in command and lists 3 fatalities in total so looks like Meggitt and Barker now accounted.

Good work Alex. May I suggest including Service Numbers to the details in the first post? It helps when using Google to search for names and service numbers.

These are from the CWGC site:

    Sgt(WoP/Ag) Dennis Norman BARKER - 1397236
    W/O(pilot) Vincent Pendleton FRIESE-GREENE - 963754
    F/Lt. Tom Roy MEGGITT - 45359
Sgt. Allison John SEDGWICK - 1011330

    AC(2c) Rose Reece - 472863
    LACW. J.D.H. Williams - 426791

    Regards

In his book on Shropshire Tom lists Sedgwick as being at Cosford, which fits with a death at the RAF Hospital

Henk usually listed the Balloon Command Casulaties also,

LAC C A Livett 1267623 is listed as Died on Active Service, and death registered in Chelmsford, where the Squadron was based.

There are two POW deaths in the Far East on this date

McLEOD, RODERICK SCOTT Warrant Officer 404512 24/09/1943 25 Royal Australian Air Force 34 Sqn per AWM RoH
BALLARD, ALBERT WILLIAM HENRY Flight Sergeant 366033 24/09/1943 34 Royal Air Force
Both buried in KANCHANABURI WAR CEMETERY

Two RCAF airmen died in a 2 SFTS (?) accident also, but they will be in Alisons book, A E Frazer and H O Farner.

There is one oddity perhaps, F/Sgt Herbert LIDGETT of 296 Sqn missing believed killed in the Medd. On the Malta memorial. The only member of the squadron for that date. Maybe drowned from a ditched aircraft.

    Hello,

AUS404512 W/O Roderick Scott McLEOD RAAF*- No.34 Sqn, RAF, (held Java, Singapore and Thailand), died on 24-9-1943, of malaria and dysentery in Thai POW Camp, Tarsao, Thailand.

W/O McLeod RAAF, was originally buried in Tarsao Cemetery, Thailand (No.2 Cemetery) Grave 286. Later reinterred 16-2-1946, Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, Thailand.

366033 F/Sgt Albert/Arthur William Henry BALLARD RAF, Unit not known. Held Java, Singapore and Thailand (Hintok). Died Hintok, Thailand 24-9-1943.

    pp.79 & 176

NB. Henk would have been aware of these casualties, but not the full details (he held a copy of the above reference). Therein lies another problem - duplication!
