    Default No.13 Base

    Gents,

Can anyone help with the location of No.13 Base ? I have a No.3 Group officer posted to No.13 Base, but I think it maybe a typo of No.31 Base, just want to make sure about No.13 Base first!

    TIA

RAF FT&SU has 13 Base at Elsham Wolds (01/12/43 to 15/12/45) (No 1 Group)

Hi Steve - 13 Base formed in 1 Group on 01/01/44. Base H.Q. was Elsham. N Killingholme and Kirmington were the other Stations. I have the ORB so give me a name and date and I'll check for a match.

    Cheers,

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

Wing Commander T Wynne Powell ( was ex No.1 Group - No.199 - Wimpies ) posted to No.13 Base (sic) from No.90(B) Squadron December 1943 ( could be early January 1944)

    TIA

Hi Steve - ORB doesn't help I'm afraid, although my sense is they're never definitive. 13 Base's ORB kicks off on 1 Jan 44, so may not include the postings-in for December to get 13 Base established. I looked through to check postings out later on but didn't pick him up. Checked 1 Group ORB for Dec and Jan - nothing there either.

    Not very helpful I'm afraid,

    R

    Hi Richard,

I have just checked No.620Squadron ORB and this too records him arriving via No.13 Base. Not sure if this is a second typo or just correct. Just seems strange that he was posted back to No.1 Group then onto No.38 Group. Anyways any details most welcome.

    TIA
