    Default 340 Squadron, 7th June 1944

    Hi,

Following on from my last question regarding G/Cpt. Crisham, I am hoping someone may have the 340 Squadron ORB and be able to give me the serial number for Spitfire IX GW-X flown I believe by G/Cpt. 'Paddy' Crisham on 7th June 1944, and if at all possible the details of the flight.

This I believe was the only flight he made with 340 Squadron during Overlord.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Russ

    Bertrand,

Could 'MJ' be a typo, on 27th June 44 MK234 GW-X of 340 Squadron, flown by J. Homolle was hit by flak and crash landed near Caen (info found on the worldnaval ships website).

Was this the same aircraft or a replacement 'X'?

    Cheers,

    Russ

    Russ,

You are right; MJ234 on 7/6/44, MK234 on 27/6 with Homolle. Eech time diarist wrote "X".

It is a typo. A quick look inside M&S, MJ234 flown to Casablance in 11/43 then USAF in 1/44.

    So definitively MK234
