    Paul,

No photo of the Fairey IIIFs you mention in my edition. The book went through quite a few editions, mine is a sixth edition, so it could be in an earlier edition.

Only from what I can pick up from google Books says

    "47 Sqn Archives"

I suspect the same photo as that found of 3 Fairey IIIF in the Profile Publication of Fairey IIIF but is too small to read serials

I have the 1998 edition, and it's there - the one in the foreground is (reaches for magnifying glass...) J9796, and the one behind is J9809 by the look of it.

J9796 has what looks like a squadron emblem on the fin, and J9809 has a dark coloured fin.

    Regards

    Simon

Thanks to wwrsimon I now know that it is the same photo as in the Fairey IIIF Profile Publication (Page 8), it has been cropped on the right from the original in the Nesbit book, which means the far one may be J9802 as stated in description and text in Nesbit book (and possibly readable on un-cropped original print) . The Profile Publications credit it is stated Ministry of Defence so might be at IWM now
