    Default 107 Squadron 18th April 1941

    Hello,
does anyone have any details of the unit's activities on this date?
From Warner's Blenheim book I know that 6 aircraft were sent to attack a convoy off Farsund and two Blenheims were lost, possibly to Flak, including the Wing Commander, A. Birch.
If anyone has access to the ORB, I would be interested to know when the Squadron took off.
The 114 Squadron made an attack in the evening, from which four failed to return, being shot down by Bf 110s of the III./ZG 76.
I have an additional claim for a Blenheim, earlier than the four above, which could be one of the 107 Squadron aircraft.
    Thanks,
    Francis

    Hello Francis,

According to the ORB Blenheim OM-O (no serial mentioned) of W/Cdr Birch took off at 10.35 hrs and didn't return from the Norwegian coast. An SOS was received from this Blenheim, while beinng on the return trip.
Blenheim R3740 of Sgt Hickingbotham took off at 09.40hrs and was seen to be shot down by Flak and crashed near the attacked convoy.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Hans
