    Hi Steve,

    I have for this a/c (LL693):

crashed at Geitendorf, in NE districts of Stuttgart following a night fighter attack at 23.40 hrs, shortly after bombing.

The following NF claim could well fit:

    Uffz. Gerhard Koch: 1 1./JG301 Lancaster Stuttgart: 6.200 m. 23.35 prob. 115 Sqn Lancaster LL693

    Hope this helps, cheers, Theo

    Hi Theo,

A belated thank you. I have not forgot the Combat Reports, my local libray is currently undergoing a major refurb and being it is the only library in the borough with a micro-film reader I am stuffed !!!

As soon as they have finished I will get them off to you.

    Hi Steve,

    Cheers for that mate!

This morning, I got a correction from one of my German contacts re. the crash location of LL693, the right location is:

1 km. east of Gallenhof in Althütte near Backnang.

    Hope of use, cheers, Theo

    Jacky,

From my trilogy For Your Tomorrow - A record of New Zealanders who have died while serving with the RNZAF and Allied Air Services since 1915 :

    Mon 16/Tue 17 Aug 1943
    BOMBER COMMAND
Raid on Turin, Italy (by 154 aircraft - 4 lost)
115 Squadron, RAF (Little Snoring, Norfolk - 3 Group)
Lancaster II DS684/M - took off at 2025 captained by Sqn Ldr J R Watson, RAF, and brought down over France, crashing near Alençon. The seven crew were buried at Alençon, 48km NNW of Le Mans, but later reinterred at St Corneille, 12km NE of Le Mans, and finally at Le Mans itself, in the city’s West Cemetery. (This loss, incurred during Bomber Command’s final raid against Italy, is inadvertently listed under the night of 15/16 August in Bomber Command Losses.)
