    From Air-Britain "RAF Aircraft K1000 to K9999": -

    3 FTS/Desford
    SOC 7-41

Looks like a crash sometime around July 1941, but no further details in the book I'm afraid

And a bit more, from "The K File - the RAF of the 1930s": -

    Deld to 3FTS 24-2-36
Engine cut; overshot forced landing into hedge 4m NW of Swindon Wilts, 18-4-39; ROS (repaired on site)
    9 MU
    Dispersed to Desford 12-10-40
    9 MU 8-11-40
    Odiham 30-7-41
    to SAAF as 1867

Looks like the incident on 18-4-39 would be when your photo was taken :)
