Harry James Maxted

35106 Wing Commander Harry James Maxted was an officer in the Royal Air Force. He was the son of James William and Lucille Ray Maxted of Folkstone (Kent). He later married Winifred Hilda Maxted and moved to Ruskington (Lincolnshire).

Wing Commander Maxted was involved in a motor accident near Takoma Park, Maryland, USA on 21 November 1943. He died at the scene, from injuries sustained in the motor accident.

It was "85 Years of South African Air Force" that I took the info from, as I couldn't find the other two listed on CWGC I assumed that they weren't killed and the accident cards had been wrongly annotated.

Hi, this is my first time here. I am the grandson of John Raymond Harnwell and am looking for information regarding his squadron and exact place of death. The main info I have is that he was killed on a night training exercise and that his plane was Sunderland L2168 4 Otu. If you can help with any more information it would be greatly appreciated.
