    Default RAF Casualties in Malaya

Can anyone point me in the direction of locating any listing of air crew KIA during the Malaya conflict. I am trying to establish how many Battle of Britain recipients lost their lives in that conflict. Thank you for reading my quest for help.

Can I suggest a rather long winded but possibly reasonably accurate way of finding the information you seek.

First, there are several lists of all the BofB participants and those killed in Malaya will either be commemorated on the RAF section of the Kranji Memorial or will be buried in Malaya and the dates are fairly short 7 Dec41 - 14 Feb 42. A comparison of one with t'other should find the people you seek with a reasonable degree of certainty - well, I did say it was long winded!!!!!

    Thanks Colin.
I should have made it clearer, its the Post War Malayan conflict where Battle of Britain recipients also were awarded the GSM Bar Malaya. I had assumed there would be very few but plodding through Kens book on B of B men I was seeking something less prone to error on my part !

    Colin,

Well in that case if we are post war then The Malaya and Borneo Veterans Association have published a Roll of Honour which lists all casualties by service, date and includes personnel number and its also on a CD. The RofH also lists those who were killed during the Brunei Revolt and Confrontation and so you have essentially a complete list of deaths across the armed forces from 1947 through to the end of 1966. The book is 104 pages long but as it is published privately for members of the NM&BVA it has no ISBN. The RAF bit for the Malayan Emergency runs to seven pages and for Confrontation it is two. If you want me to photocopy these pages, please let me know.

I also have a definitive list of BofB aircrew but that's a bit more difficult to copy, perhaps we could arrange a loan or somesuch.

    Colin,

Sorry, getting confused between two sets of electronic stuff - I'll sort out the NM&BVA list later.
