Thank you Alan for the information on ASO Dufton. I think that would be Longhoughton Station, rather than Longhorton though.

WILMINGTON, Samuel Thomas reported to have died at home in Bath after being in hospital for months. It was stated that he had been discharged from the RAF on health grounds.

Unable to locate in Casualty Communiques in Flight Archives.

In my attempt to produce an exact account of ACO. Dufton’s accident I am confused by the following quotes from above posts:-

(1)Assistant Catering Officer is recorded with regret. Miss Dufton was cycling near Longhorton Station
    (2) I think that would be Longhoughton Station, rather than Longhorton
    (3) cycling accident near Boulmer

I have ascertained that Boulmer is a village in Northumberland but can find no reference on Google to the two stations named above. (Google is suggesting ‘Longhorn’). Do they refer to an RAF or railway station?

    Grateful for any assistance
    Tony
