WALKER, Jack - LAC - 1125258 - the Yorkshire Evening Post of December 11th 1943 reported the following:

L.A.C. Jack Walker, whose parents live in Cragside Walk, Leeds, has been killed in an accident in North Africa. He was previously employed by Shell Mex, Goodman Street.

EDIT: found my answer - they were POWS on the "Suez Maru" that was sunk in java by the US Submarine Bonefish off the north coast of Bali. Part of the 219 other casualties commemorated on the Singapore memorial on that day
