Closed Air 81 File Now reopened - I asked for a long tail record (01/01/2095 82 Years) to be opened under a FoI in June - Today it was Opened

AIR 81/2138 - Flight Lieutenant S I Dodds, Pilot Officer B S Booth, Leading Aircraftman A H Gumbleton, Leading Aircraftman N E Jacobs: missing believed killed; shot down, enemy action, Anson OYG, 48 Squadron, 20 May 1940

As I said before some of these long tail records will not be opened in my lifetime unless we request them under FoI - A lot of closed records will be opened automatically on 1st Jan 2022, 2023 and 2024 though

    Hi Paul,
Do you know if a casualty file exists for Charles Derek Whittingham who flew with 151 squadron during the Battle of Britain? I wonder if it is one of the unreleased files. I would certainly like to read it if it exists.

    Cheers Paul,
I wondered if one was available under a FOI request. I've been researching him on and off for years and havent found a great deal.
    Regards

If he wasn't injured or considered missing for a period of a few hours then there is unlikely to be one.

What event in particular are you expecting there is a casualty report for? A particular crash or incident?
