Default S/L Thomas McNeill Ormiston, DFC, Air Medal (US) VR-1368751/172606

    Hello again,
It is good that all the hard work Russ put in is now being carried on.
I wonder if anyone could help with the above pilot please. Would anyone know where this Scotsman came from.
I cannot find anything on his ITW, EFTS, SFTS and OTU. Any dates and postings would fill in a lot of gaps. He flew with 66, 611, 277 sqns, 3 TEU, 6, 213 sqns and 211 FTS.
Lastly when did he leave the service.
    Many thanks,
    Roy

If you mean where was he was born, there are two men with this name recorded in the Scottish Statutory Records. One was born in 1886 in the Plantation District of Glasgow and the other was born in 1917 in the Inveresk & Musselburgh district of Midlothian (near Edinburgh).

    Hello Ian and Douglas,
Many thanks for Tom Ormiston's DOB and location which points to Midlothian, which ties in with where he enlisted.
Also for his dated of leaving the service.
I do miss Henks contributions but we are in good hands.
    Thanks,
    Roy

Good to hear from you John,
Thanks for Ormiston's arrival date on 66 sqn. On 17-6-41 while taxying in Spitfire IIa, P8258 he struck a lorry, the u/c collapsed causing Cat 2, at 1030hr. but pilot ok.
