Found Bell as
DIED OF WOUNDS OR INJURIES RECEIVED ON ACTIVE SERVICE.—A/C.2 N. R. Bell. published march 9th Flight magazine.
That would support an aircraft accident.
Aldous does not show up in Flight or Aeroplane, Wills Calender only says death 'On War Service'.
He was a member of the Admin & Spec Duties branch since 1942
