Only AC2 Wilkinson is appearing in the Died on active service lists during 1944
    http://www.skynet.ie/~dan/war/flight...nscription.htm

Sellek's probate entry says he died at Madley, Herefordshire and he was from there. Aged 42.
He might, emphasis on might, have been appointed a Certified Wireless Operator by the Post Office in 1918. His commission was in the Technical Branch
We discussed him briefly before: http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...ELLEK-21-12-43

E J Black was commissioned back in 1940 but in 1942 the London Gazette published:

The commns. of the undermentioned are terminated:
    Actg. Pit. Off. (prob.) D. G. SPENCER (104676). i5th Jan. 1942.
    Pit. Off. (prob.) E. J. BLACK (86006). 2ist Jan. 1942.
    Actg. Pit. Off. (prob.) N. T. WOOMBS (112275). 22nd Jan. 1942.

I wonder if he might have been injured or maybe developed an illness. he had been transferred to the Technical Branch in 1940, having been originally in the A&SD Branch.

HODGSON, Thomas William... is registered in Fife during 1943, you would need to work through the districts to find which one and its not Crail district itself but a nearby one no doubt.

Re: HODGSON T W W 151937 - Scotland's People has him killed at Kippo Farm, Kingsland, about 3 miles NW of Crail, timed at 21.40. The certificate is very faint, and column 6 (Cause of Death) is pretty illegible although it does look like 'Aircraft Crash'. The 1940s handwriting doesn't help mind!

Does this tie in with JL873?

    Regards

It looks likely as JL873 was lost near Crail.

Scotland's People have rescanned the certificate and sent a new copy (now that's what I call a good service - three days!). The cause of death is "Aircraft Crash. Due to War Operations. Death instantaneous."

Are there any details for the pilot and his fate?

    Regards

    Hi Simon

I cannot find another death to match the pilot so assume he survived
