    Default Fairey Battle

    Gents,

Can anyone tell me please how propaganda leaflets were dropped by the Battle? Were they held in the wing bomb bays and dropped in the conventional way, or dropped by hand ?

I am researching the Nickel raids of No.218 Squadron, the squadron Battle's carried between 15 - 18 bundles per sortie.

    Anyone ??

    Regards

    Steve

In the Whitley, I seem to recall that I have read, that leaflets were dropped down the flare chute in bundles. I presume with bands just strong enough or wrapped in thin paper to hold them together long enough, in order to drop clear from the aircraft.

    Hi Mark,

Thank you for the post. On reading the ORB "carefully" I chanced upon a hand written one liner, it said " Removed the K gun from its mounting and dropped pamphlet's".

Now I am not saying all the Battle squadrons of the AASF did this, but it appears to be the method on No.218(B) Squadron at this time.!
