Default Sgt 'Eddie' Chambers XV Sqd / KIA 30th May 1942

    Hi,
Help required please, the above officer was KIA on a bombing raid on the Frisian Islands, I had believed him to be a local man from Old Weston, Nr Huntingdon, but having tried very, very hard to make contact with the family I have just been told that they know nothing of this man. And they have lived in Old Weston village for 60 years...
Can anyone help me in finding this mans family, where did he come from ??
I have now traced 6 of the 8 crew member families of the Godmanchester Stirling, this is the most difficult one I have left to find....
    THANK YOU

I've searched GRO, and the only one i have found that comes close, is an Arthur E Chambers, married to a Hilda (nee Austin), had a son William E Chambers, born in last quarter of 1920, birth registered at Thrapston, Northants.

    Thanks Alan,
That would tie in with him being from Old Weston (it's only 7-8 miles away), the plot thickens !
I'll try to check out their war memorial, perhaps his name is on there?
    Cheers
    Roger
