Good morning all,
Could anyone please help me, Army personnel transferred to RAF. In the batch 655000 to 679889 from January 1939. Were they RAF or RAFVR.
I have never seen if it is possible to trace their previous Army unit.
Thanks,
Roy

Meteorology is a science; good meteorology is an art!
We might not know - but we might know who does!
Hi Peter,
You are a star, thank you for confirming my thoughts. These Army personnel had volunteered to join the RAF to become pilots so I assume they were treated as VR's.
Thank you,
Roy
This was - presumably - quite distinct from those transfers from the Army to become the Fearsome SNCOs of the RAF Regt? Later in my career on RAF Stations I was to come across such! The SWO on one Station I served on was ex-Guards! Part of the Job Description of Warrant Officers in the RAF is ". . . and the continuing training of Junior Officers.". The mention of "W/O Jack Holt" will, probably, bring shivers of apprehension to many!!
