What caused the death of and/or what were the places of death registration for:

AC2 Arthur L. MOORE - 918875 - not found in Flight archives, and
Sgt (Pilot) Malcolm S. SMITH - 758154 - killed on active service.

Proposed aircraft losses for this day:

Battle I - L5688 - 7 BGS - crashed in forced landing Porthcawl.
Blenheim I - L1468 - 5 OTU - crashed in forced landing Culkerston, Gloucestershire.
Dragon - X9398 - 7 AACU - crashed in forced landing near Ollerton, Notts. (Nottinghamshire ??).
Magister I - T9731 - 15 EFTS - flew into high ground Beaumont, 2 miles NW of Carlisle, Cumberland.
Spitfire I - N3235 - 7 OTU - dived into ground near Holywell, Flintshire.

Hi Henk
Smith,21, is registered at Holywell which suggests N3235. Moore,22, is registered in an area called Surrey Mid East which takes in the southern parts of London and beyond , places like Epsom, Cheam etc which lie on the edges of London and are now part of it, but in WW2 were administered by the adjacent County Councils.

Arthur Leonard Moore #918875



n this day (21st October) in 1940...

AC2 Arthur Leonard Moore lost his long battle with the injuries he had sustained at Kenley on 18th August, 1940 - The Hardest Day.

He had initially been taken to Purley First Aid Post and then admitted to Purley and District War Memorial Hospital in a dangerous condition with injuries to his right eye and a fractured tibia. Arthur was transferred to Horton Emergency Hospital (Military section), on 25/9/1940 and lost his life on 21/10/1940, with members of his family at his bedside.
AC2 Arthur Moore was born in Camden, London on 10th December, 1917. He was the son of Len and Ada Moore of Highbury, London, and was laid to rest in New Southgate Cemetery.
