    Default Two 40 Squadron crews

    Martin,

Two 40 Squadron Wellington Xs were lost on this date. Your list conflates the two crews.

    They were, in HE759 A

    Sgt W L Boundy
    F/O R W Holdsworth
    Sgt H W S Ducklin
    Sgt K Lyne
    Sgt G L Abrahams

    and in HE796 P

    P/O D C Challis DFM
    F/Sgt R K Cox
    Sgt J G Noblett
    F/O M S D'Abadi
    Sgt F A Hitchcock

All killed in a futile and misdirected attempt to stop Axis forces crossing the Straits of Messina to the mainland of Italy.
