    Default Wellington VIII HX 628

I was looking at my father's logbook and wonder if anybody can flesh out the details.
I have heard the tale of a crash he was involved in at Heliopolis but this entry in his logbook merely states: June 21 1943, Convoy Escort, crashed on take-off, burst tyre.

I have photos of a crashed MK VIII but the serial numbers are unclear.

While I am enquiring I found another crash which I think happened in Shallufah.
I think this may have been another Mk VIII but the serial no is quite different so may not have been a 38 Sqn aircraft.
WS 731 crashed on take off during an air test, Nov 13 1942

This is the Form 1180 for the tyre burst incident which led to the u/c collapse and write off of the Wellington.

    Ross,

Thank you for that. I think the photos I have ties up with this.
The props made ground contact and there was major sand ingestion.
I'm a pilot with over 21,000 hrs and shared a lot with my old dad but he kept a lot of his wartime stories close.
It is fantastic to have the Form 1180.
