    Hello,

    6-4-1943
    No.1 Base Personnel Depot, N.W.A.A.F.*
    Spitfire IX EN355

    Crashed at 1100 on take-off, half-a-mile west of Maison Blanche Airfield, Algiers. The aircraft was on a ferry flight from Maison Blanche to Setif, Algeria.

    AUS408839 F/Sgt (Pilot) Noel Leslie GORDON RAAF +

    Buried El Alia Cemetery, Algeria.

    l have an unconfirmed note in F/Sgt Gordon's file, that he was attached to No.114 MU. Any information on his unit at the time of his death would be welcome.

    Hello Col,

    I believe the Spitfire crashed out of its initial climb, and was flying to Setif and not from.

    A little more info,

    EN355 IX Transit Flight mile west of runway Maison Blanche 1200 hrs. Cat E. Climbed to 300 ft turned slightly to right dived into ground. Sgt N L Gordon 408839 (Aus).
