Default Missing information relating to service record

I have obtained my late father's service record and I am working my way through deciphering it. I would appreciate any thoughts on the gaps after 13/5/42 when he joined 142 squadron.

    142 Squadron 13/5/42
    Portreath 9/12/42
    (blank line)
    142 Squadron 3/8/43
    2 BPD 3/8/43
    1 BPD 25/8/43
    (3 blank lines)
    12 OTU
    Little Horwood 5/8/44
    12 OTU 13/8/44

The entry for Portreath dated 9/12/42, I assume means he was moved there before going to Blida, although it is not stated that he was stationed abroad.
The next entry is for 142 Squadron dated 3/8/43 - would this be when he was based in the UK?
The two entries "BPD" - are these "Base Personnel Disposal" - i.e. he had completed 40 operations and his status was Operational Tour Expired?
There are then 3 blank lines before the next entry for 12 OTU with no date attached, although I guess it was 1944. Would he have been with 142 Squadron throughout that period?

    BPD, Base Personnel Depot.
142sqdn, were at Grimsby when your father was posted in, in May 42.
In August 43, they were at RAF Kairouan, Tunisia.
If you can let me have your father's name, i can look up ops for him with 142sqdn

On looking at the ORB, it would seem, that after a spell on ops from Blida, his crew left for Algeria on 23rd March 43, on route to England. Up to that point, they had done 36 ops, from UK and Blida. Will get back when more info found. Do you have dates for your father's 40 ops, that i can check against the ORB ops that i have already please.

No, I do not have any further information other than what I quoted from his service record and that I put in my first posting on the forum. There are blank lines in the service record as I have indicated. Once again any information is much appreciated, even the fact that he went to Blida is news to me.

    Thank you.

Thank you so much for this information. Unfortunately it leaves me with further unanswered questions. If the last ORB record was dated 23/3/43 (crew left for Algeria, on route to England), what do I make of the entry "142 Squadron 3/8/43"? Also the missing time between "1 BPD 25/8/43" and the next entry (undated) for "12 OTU" which could be anytime between then and 5/8/44?
Any thoughts on this would be most welcome.
