Default British Joint Services Mission USA

According to his Service Record, my brother (then) F.Lt. F.M. Hegarty, was on duty with the British Joint Services Mission in the USA in 1952 `during Special Trials`. Then subsequently at Central Fighter Establishment `Air Warfare Development Squadron`

Does anyone know if it is possible to learn more about this? I do know that he was awarded a Bar to his AFC fairly shortly afterwards, which might have something to do with this posting.

Thanks a lot Chris - I have followed up the link, but unfortunately what I am interested in is not yet digitised, so I am unable to browse online before ordering. As I live in France it is impossible for me to visit Kew, and I don`t really want to order files (possibly big ones) without knowing whether they contain the information I am after.

I`m grateful however for your help - and will keep the details on my file.

    Best wishes Jean
