    Default Vampire Write Offs

    Hi all,

Can anyone provide details as to the reason for the following Vampire write-offs please?

    WA263 Written off 17.10.51
    WA318 Written off 11.10.51
    WA143 Written off 12.10.51

Sorry, would have added these to my other post regarding WA222 written off on 06.10.51 but just spotted them.

    Many thanks,

    Jim

    Hi Jim
From"Broken Wings" by James J Halley MBE, published by Air Britain
WA143- Larkhill, Wiltshire-Caught fire during Ground Attack practice, blew up on forced landing- 1 fatality
WA318-Valley-landed too fast, overshot runway onto beach
WA203- Kai Tak,Hong Kong-landed too fast, wheels raised to stop
All very likely candidates for write-off
    Regards
    Dick

Thanks Dick, this confirms that these are not the Vampire which crashed at Gilsland which I referred to in an earlier post.

    Cheers,
