Default W/C Donald Moore Harrison CRAVEN 36048

Can anyone tell me a little about the above officer, who was the C/O of 12 Squadron in 1943/44. He was posted away from 12 Squadron on the 6th of March 1944, to 9 I.T.W., presumably to command? If anyone can confirm that I'd be grateful.

He was awarded the DFC for service with 12 Squadron, with an LG date of the 6th of June 1944, although there is no citation in the Gazette, nor in carter's two-volume set published by Savannah. From the LG I have also discovered that he retired from the RAF on the 6th of February 1959.

If anyone has citation for his DFC, or an NA Air2 reference where I might find the recommendation, or indeed any other details about his career, I'd be very pleased to hear from them.

    Thanks in anticipation as always,

    Greg

    Greg, Hi,
There was a Wg Cdr Craven who was CO RAF El Adem either in the mid-50's, or late 60's (can't remember (age & infirmity) which tour I was on - prob the first). Lots of scuttlebutt which should not be aired publicly on the forum without confirmation! If you want any more them PM/email me!

AIR 2/8780 is best bet at Kew for DFC recommendation including sortie list.

Thanks Hugh, I'll put it on my list for next month when I'm in Kew. If I find it, would you like me to email you a copy?
