    Hello,

Re: UK (1) - William Ferguson GRAY, and UK (2) - George John WILCOX. Also buried at Dunure Cemetery, are two Canadians:

R99699 WO1 (W.Op./Air Gnr.) Walter Henry HARRIS RCAF

    and...

    R/164611 F/Sgt (W.Op./Air Gnr.) Joseph Patrick O'NEILL RCAF

Does Les Allison have anything to say on these two airmen? (Can't access my copy of TSGNO at the moment).

    Hi

Harris and O'Neill were killed whilst flying in Ventura V, FP659 of No 5 (C) OTU, which crashed on take off from Turnberry following an engine failure, I don't know how I missed it first time. There were three non RCAF casualties so these were probably Gray, Wilcox and Park

    Default Ventura Crash

    G'day

First off, the serial number FP695 is for an Avro Anson Mk. II used by No. 4 Bombing & Gunnery School at Fingal, Ontario

The 'FP' serial range for Lend-Lease Ventura G.R. Mk. V's is from FP549 to FP684.

R/99699 W.O.1 Walter Henry Harris was the son of James and Mary Harris as well as the husband of Glarya Hurst Harris, of Kitchener, Ontario. He is buried Dunure Cemetery, Ayrshire, United Kingdom Grave Reference: Section E, Grave 292.

R/164611 Flight Sergeant Joseph Patrick O'Neill was the son of Michael and Mary O'Neill, of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He was the husband of Annie Carmen O'Neill, of Charlottetown. He is buried in the Dunure Cemetery Ayrshire, United Kingdom. Grave Reference: Section E, (Blue) Grave 195.

    Cheers...Chris

    Chris,
