Ran out of fuel in dust storm on delivery flight, and crashed in desert 2m W of Habbaniya, Iraq.

F/O Ernest Bigland Knight C4396 RCAF was a member of 230 Squadron on 21st/22nd December 1940 he was on Sunderland T9071 that was shot down off the coast near Ras Amar, Libya.

He died on 26th May 1944 of acute appendicitis with complications. He is buried in Regina Cemetery, Saskatchewan, Canada.
