Default 205 Group Wellington loss 29-30 June 1944?

    Dear all,

I am looking for the identity of a 205 Group Wellington that was claimed shot down by a German night fighter during the 29-30 June 1944 raid on Feuersbrunn (Fels am Wagram) airfield, situated close to Vienna, Austria. It concerns the following claim:

    Oblt. Helmuth Schulte: 15 7./NJG6 Wellington Mariazell/Wien: 2.000 m. 00.30

Cheers and thanks for any details!

    There are several possibles.

    Try:
    LN873 70 Sqn ditched on a raid to F a W but cause not stated on 29/6

    LN851 70 Sqn ditched on return from F a W on 30/6

    JA191 150 Sqn 'Missing' F a W on 30/6

Hope this moves things along a bit but I don't have the Forms 540 or other supporting info.

    Hello & good evening Colin,

Many thanks for providing the basic details of the three Wimpeys that were lost on the Fels am Wagram raid, from these details it appears that JA191 of 150 Sqn is a likely candidate, hopefulyl someone on the forum can provide a crash location of this a/c.

    Cheers, Theo
