All attached to Number 15 Salvage Gang , of 71 MU , Slough, had been despatched to RAF Wing under the command of Corporal 1682063 Starling. The party comprised of 6 WAAF and Hoare as driver. They were completing their task of dismantling and loading Tomahawk AK 166 onto low loader RAF 22529 , when Wellington HE 854 swung on take off as the result of an under carriage fault causing it to hit the low loader and carry it 100 feet into the corner of a hanger where the wreckage caught fire killing Hoare, Reeves and Dickens

so is Mary Jane Conway 430977 also to be added - because I don't think so she registered Cleveland - others Aylesbury

"Three airmen and two WAAFs were killed and other RAF personnel injured in an accident at a home counties aerodrome. The dead are F/O Harry Wilkes; F/O Richard Francis Hubard; Corporal Harold Frank Hoare; Annie Alice Reeves, Adys Road, Peckham; Emily Marjorie Dickens, Victoria St, Dunstable. An aeroplane landing struck the WAAFs as they were crossing the runway. At an inquest on the WAAFs Monday week evidence was taken in camera and a verdict of accidental death was returned.

I read to the wrong WAAF in my notes sorry . You’re correct . The entry is a correction of the post on here regarding their unit and what they were actually doing at RAF Wing

Everything detail wise is correct, ill just do the names again, i myself had a fat finger moment sorry, when typing the names and numbers :

the dead were : Hoare, Reeves and Dickens

Conway was probably NOT Involved in this incident , I'll see if I can look her up on Monday to correct the error in the database

Douglas James Morrison Dunn 1554921, was admitted to hospital 30 minutes after the hung up bomb on his aircraft detonated . He had lost his left leg at the knee and suffered penetrating abdominal wounds. He was stabilised with transfusions and stabilised and 11 hours after admission was anaesthetised prior to operation but died during the administration . The hospital staff felt they should have resuscitated him earlier and had placed too much reliance on his almost normal blood pressure

Mary Jane Conway 430977 , a medically discharged Airwoman at the time of her death , died at 41 Thrush Road, Redcar of tuberculosis of the lungs

The entry associating her with the crash of Wellington HE854 is totally erroneous
