    Hello

MAY, Roy Manfred - AC2c - 1409915 - a family tree on ancestry.co.uk records that he died in Guildford Hospital after a short illness.

TILL, Ernest Fleetwood Street (Australian) Served as TRAVIS - F/O - 157020 - the Surrey Mirror of July 7th 1944 reported the inquest into his death. It records that he died from gunshot wounds while on duty in the control tower of an R.A.F. Station. The gunfire came from a fighter that had been refuelled about 40 yards away, and which was about to be moved to another part of the airfield. The pilot, F/Lt. R. P. Harlidge, accidentally fired his guns as he leant across the cockpit while the fighter was being refuelled. It was found that the safety catch on the control column's firing button was in the 'fire' position, rather than 'safe.' The button would have been level with the pilot's harness as he leant across the cockpit. A verdict of accidental death was recorded.

    Regards

    Simon
