    Hello

LYNCH, Stephen - F/S - 411364 - the Hampshire Telegraph of June 30th 1944 reported the inquest into his death. It records that he drowned near his home while bathing in the River Rother, near Cowdray Ruins. A verdict of accidental death ws returned.

WAITE, John Frederick - LAC - 1493839 - an article under the one above in the same newspaper reported that he was killed on his honeymoon by a flying bomb along with Joan Mary Waite (formerly Miss Joan Harris), his bride of ten days.

Her CWGC entry records that she died at the Y.M.C.A. canteen at Victoria Station: https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/c...te,-joan-mary/

The following is from this site: http://www.westendatwar.org.uk/page/...ion?path=0p28p

"The final major incident at Victoria Station took place at around 1.55am on 25 June 1944, when a V1 flying bomb hit Hudson's Place, next to Platform One, causing extensive damage. The casualty figures were 14 dead, 82 wounded, with a total of 51 casualties on Platform One alone. The V1 blast severely damaged a YMCA centre, two platforms in the Station and shattered windows in neighbouring businesses and buildings for a 150 yard radius."

    Regards

    Simon
