    Default Swordfish loss on 21 March 1941

    Hello,

    On 21 March 1941, while HMS Ark Royal was involved in the search for the Scharnhorst and the Gneinesau in the Atlantic, a Swordish of 818 Sqn crashed on take off and was overrun by the carrier, killing the three crew, A/Sub Lt (A) P. E. Opdall, P/T/Sub Lt (A) C. R. Hearn RNVR, and Leading Airman B. C. Biggs.

    I would be interested in knowing the serial of this aircraft.

    By googling the serial, I found a very detailled history of the Ark Royal giving many details about the operations in March 1941 agains the Gneisenau and Scharnhorst:
